SinceJune 16, 2010, the electric motor needs to be producedand sold with IE1, IE2, IE3.The new energy efficiency grade of the motor mustbe determined by the new measurement method.Motor Efficiency rating IE1 IE2 IE3EFF1 EFF2 (New Directive EC No. 640/2009).In 1999, the EU and the EuropeanElectrical and Power Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (CEMEP) establishedthe Electric motor Energy Efficiency Standards (EU-CEMEP).EU – CEMEP agreementcovered by product is fully enclosed type fan cold (IP54 or IP55) three-phaseac squirrel-cage asynchronous motor, power range from 1.1 to 90 kw, the numberof 2 and 4 pole, the voltage of 400 v, 50 hz, S1 work week (i.e., continuousrating), standard design (i.e., the starting performance meet IEC60034-12 Ndesign technical requirements), the agreement of each specification motor sethigh and low two efficiency indicators, product efficiency value is lower thanthe low index called Eff3 motor, between low and high indicators said Eff2motor,Eff1 motor with higher index.As is known to all, China is known as the“workshop of the world”, and motor is a bulk commodity in international trade,many international purchasing groups have come to China to purchase motorproducts.In view of this background, many customers, including those in Europeand the Middle East, have taken the efficiency of electric motors as one of theimportant indicators when purchasing electric motors, requiring manufacturersto provide proof that their electric motors comply with eu Eff1 or Eff2efficiency indicators.
Therefore,for three phase electric motor manufacturers aiming atthe international market, obtaining the Eff1 and Eff2 efficiency evaluationfrom authoritative testing institutions in advance will greatly enhance thecompetitiveness of motor manufacturers in the international market.In order tomeet the demand of customers at home and abroad for the efficiency evaluationof Effl and Eff2 efficiency motors, the motor testing station can providecustomers with the service of testing and evaluating the efficiency of themotors, and issue the recognition certificate to the motor manufacturers whotest and evaluate the motors in accordance with the requirements of Eff1 and Eff2efficiency evaluation rules.The certificate has been approved by customers inEuropean countries and non-American countries.

(2) Morehigh-quality materials should be used.IE2 motor cost 25% ~ 30% higher than IE1,IE3 motor cost 40% ~ 60% higher than IE1.
(3)Because of the low operating temperature, the motor life is longer, which canreduce the maintenance cost.
(4) Thestarting current is relatively large under typical design conditions.
(5) Therotor inertia is large.
(6) Highspeed and small slip under rated load.
